Teeth whitening lightens stain molecules within the enamel under a dentist’s supervision. It can be done in a single clinic session and continued at home with custom trays.

Cleaning first

Before whitening we remove tartar and treat any decay or exposed tooth necks. Fillings and crowns do not whiten, so old visible fillings may need replacing afterwards.

Sensitivity

Teeth can be sensitive to cold for 1-2 days. During this time a sensitivity toothpaste and avoiding strongly coloured food are recommended.

Step by step

  1. Check-up and cleaning

Tartar is removed and any decay treated first.

  2. Shade record

    The starting shade is recorded.

  3. Clinic session

Whitening gel is applied with the gums protected.

  4. Home trays

Custom trays are provided if needed.

Does whitening damage teeth?

Whitening done under supervision at the right concentration is not known to cause permanent enamel damage. Temporary sensitivity is normal.

How long does it last?

It depends on diet and smoking; short top-ups with home trays can be done a few times a year.
